Fuel for the Fight is a project started by Heal-Move-Shift and Michigan Urban Farming Initiative (MUFI) which aims to support Michigan restaurants and frontline healthcare workers during the COVID-19 crisis. With sufficient funding, we will be able to finance large orders from restaurants in economic distress. This food will not go to waste as it will be delivered directly to healthcare workers at Michigan hospitals.
At the moment, we are providing funds to restaurants in the Detroit area in exchange for food. The meals are then delivered directly to our partners at the Detroit Medical Center. The food we purchase goes to healthcare workers who are working extremely long and strenuous shifts in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Delivery will be done by our partners at the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative.
Detroit Medical Center has confirmed that it is safe for food from local restaurants to be provided to healthcare workers as the risk of contracting COVID-19 from these meals is extremely low.
