Our curriculum.

When schools contact us, we ask three simple questions:

What do students need to learn?
What do students want to discuss?
How can we teach them wellness?
EDUCATOR PORTAL

We create curriculums that facilitate culturally-cognizant and wellness-conscious health programming to grade schools.

What do we offer?

I. Heal-Move-Shift Curriculum

Our pre-existing programs focusing on mental, physical, and social/emotional health.

II. Personalized Curriculum

With adequate time to prepare, we will work with your school to create seminars personalized for your students.

We teach wellness through three main tenets:

Cardiovascular health.

Nutritional health.

Mental health.

CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH SEMINARS

building a heart-conscious generation.

The tenet of Cardiovascular Health will be achieved via education of prevention methods of Cardiovascular Disease, Heart Attacks/Strokes, and CPR unofficial training/AED. These effort aim to achieve increased awareness of cardiovascular health and the risk factors associated with CVD.

Through constant engagement with students concerning the importance of prevention, we look toward building a heart-conscious generation.

Yoga

In this seminar, students will explore yoga and meditation as modes of self-care. As a continuation of our wellness seminar, participants will be encouraged to use these practices as a tool during times of stress or as maintenance of physical and mental health in daily life

CPR Party

Expert training. OSHA compliant. If you need CPR training to satisfy an OSHA-mandated job requirement or you just want to know how to keep your loved ones safe.

Break a Sweat

Heal-Move-Shift will provide a physical health instructor who will educate about healthy ways to exercise and gain muscle. This seminar emphasizes that different types of exercise are not reserved for only males or only females, but rather for all individuals to maintain their health.

OUR OFFERINGS

linking healthy eating to the healthy mind.

We work with various elementary schools to develop programs that aim to educate students on aspects such as nutritional health, mental health, and drug education awareness. Our seminars aim to promote group discussion on issues such as mental health stigma, why substance use can negatively impact one's life, and why physical health and nutrition is so beneficial.  seminars aim to educate the youth generation to understand nutritional health, and the involvement of both aspects of physical fitness and and nutritional guides.

We work with middle and high schools, specifically at transition ages, to focus on starting discussion on mental health and expressing one's feelings. Furthermore, we aim to increase involvement in activities that benefit physical health and nutrition: through building the connection between positive body image and confident eating, students will understand how their nutritional mindset may transform the food-based decisions they make everyday.

Our Facilitators

We send trained facilitators to schools to work with students and start discussions around topics such as nutrition, mental health, and drug education.

Our Content

Our seminars incorporate data from national statistics to emphasize the importance of issues such as mental health and physical health.

MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS

reducing stigma through impactful conversations.

The tenet of Mental Health will be achieved through the education of emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Through round-table initiatives, the utilization of  inclusivity and safe spaces will serve to reduce stigma associated with discussing these topics.

Representation of diverse identities and experiences will further promote a more culturally-cognizant understanding of the ways our environment, upbringing, and mindset shape the way we view our own mental health.
Picture

Mindfulness and You

This seminar explores the idea of wellness primarily through class discussions and a wellness game. Students will gain an understanding of wellness and what it means to take care of oneself as well as others.
Picture

Who Am I?

This seminar encourages students to look critically at the social identities of themselves and others. The discussions center around appreciating the backgrounds from which we come as well as recognizing privilege.

Art Your Feelings

This seminar explores how art can be a form of self care. Through looking at different forms of artistic expression and making their own mural, students are able to decide whether drawing, painting, or other media are calming for them.

Let’s Get Social

This seminar teaches participants to build positive social relationships based on personal values. Students are encouraged to tackle social conflict in a constructive way by presenting concerns in a way which will likely be received well by others.

Picture

Intrinsic Vs. Extrinsic

Students will learn how to combat academic burnout and take care of themselves while striving to reach their goals in the classroom.

Picture

EDUcation

Students will learn about public perceptions of drugs, social judgement surrounding drug usage and their impact on overall health and well-being. Students will also learn about the harmful impacts of excessive tobacco and caffeine use through the CDC's cardiovascular and pulmonary health guidelines.

DRUG EDUCATION PROGRAMS

navigating conversations regarding drug usage.

In partnership with The Healthy Living Initiative by Dearborn Public Schools, Heal-Move-Shift is currently facilitating drug prevention seminars to third graders. By using interactive conversation and role-playing scenarios, students will practice effective methods to say no to drugs.

Our three-seminar program "I've Got the Power" is administered to elementary-school students.
Picture

Negative Effects of Drugs

Students will learn about the impact of drugs on the brain and body, and how this may effect our mental, emotional and physical health.
Picture
